Often times, when you here about helping incarcerated men, you hear the word, "reentry". Sadly, many claiming to help, only help when formerly incarcerated men walk out prison. Reentry does not begin the day a person walks out of prison. Reentry begins the moment incarceration begins. That is the critical gap Project LPP was created to address.
For far too long, reentry preparation has been treated as something that happens shortly before or after release. The result is that many incarcerated individuals spend years—sometimes decades—without meaningful opportunities to address the thinking patterns, emotional barriers, life skills deficits, and unresolved issues that contributed to their incarceration in the first place.
Project LPP refuses to do "reentry business" as usual. We bring real conversations, real accountability, and real-life lessons into prison spaces, helping men confront the beliefs, habits, attitudes, and decisions that shaped their past while equipping them with the mindset needed to create a different future.
Our work extends far beyond release preparation.
While many of our participants will one day return home, we recognize an often-overlooked reality: some incarcerated individuals will never leave prison, yet they deserve opportunities for growth, healing, purpose, and personal development, just as much as those preparing for release.
That is why Project LPP is committed to teaching individuals not only how to be successfully released—but how to be successfully incarcerated too. Successful incarceration means learning how to live with purpose despite difficult circumstances. It means developing emotional intelligence, self-awareness, accountability, healthy coping strategies, conflict resolution skills, and a commitment to personal growth. It means understanding that a meaningful life is not defined solely by freedom, but by character, contribution, and personal responsibility.
Whether a person is preparing for release next year, twenty years from now, or never, our goal remains the same: to help incarcerated men become the healthiest, strongest, and most responsible version of themselves possible.
Through guided reflection, character development, practical life skills, and personal growth training, participants learn how to make better decisions, build healthier relationships, manage emotions effectively, communicate with purpose, and develop a renewed sense of direction.
At its core, Project LPP is about transformation. It is about interrupting cycles of incarceration, hopelessness, and recidivism before they continue into another generation. It is about ensuring that the communities most impacted by the justice system are also the communities most supported in healing, rebuilding, and moving forward.
We believe incarcerated men are more than the worst decision they have ever made. We believe accountability and growth can exist together. We believe rehabilitation should begin immediately—not two years to six months before release. And we believe every individual, regardless of sentence length, deserves the opportunity to develop the mindset, emotional readiness, and life skills necessary to live with purpose and dignity.
Project LPP understands a truth that is too often ignored:When a judge sentences one person to prison, the punishment rarely stops with that individual.
The sentence reaches into living rooms, dining rooms, and children's bedrooms. It impacts spouses forced to become single parents overnight. It affects children growing up without daily access to a father. It weakens family structures, strains finances, and leaves emotional wounds that can last for generations. And nowhere is this reality more evident than in African American communities, where decades of disproportionate incarceration have created cycles of family separation, economic hardship, and community instability. The consequences of incarceration do not end at the prison gate. They echo through families and neighborhoods long after a sentence has been imposed.
We serve as a bridge between incarceration and family, working to preserve healthy family connections whenever possible and helping to rebuild relationships that have been fractured by years of separation, poor decisions, unresolved pain, and incarceration itself. We understand that successful reentry is about far more than finding a job or securing housing. It is about restoring trust. Rebuilding relationships. Learning how to be present as a parent, spouse, son, brother, or grandparent. And when there is a possibility of release, It is about preparing individuals for the realities they will face upon release.
Project LPP focuses on the whole person. We challenge participants to confront difficult truths, heal where possible, and prepare for the responsibilities that await them in and beyond prison walls.
